We love parties. We love carnivals. We love the New Orleans Carnival party we’re throwing for New Years Eve – and you’re all invited!
Dust off the dancing shoes, chuck garlands round your neck, flowers in your hair and forget all about England’s dreary rain as we see in 2016 like it’s the subtropics of America’s soulful South.
Head on down for a night of live music, DJs, dancing, decor and a few extra surprises to boot. Come dressed to impress, let’s fill the Assembly with colour!
NEW YORK BRASS BAND // SLIMLINE SHUFFLERS // DJS
EARLYBIRD TICKETS £10 – limited numbers, get them while you can!
New York Brass Band OK – forget big apples: this fresh young brass explosion actually hails from the original York (as in ‘up North’). But don’t forget your great expectations because they deliver livewire stuff with a definite New Orleans heritage, pushing out big fat grooves with lashings of showmanship (you might have seen them stealing the show all over Glastonbury 2015). It’s big big fun, whether covering the Rebirth Brass Band or Lady Gaga (they do an ace Daft Punk cover, too), and this is their Bristol debut: can you afford to miss it?
Slimline Shufflers If you like your blues with a pinch of Jambalaya and all the gumbo trimmings then the Slimline Shufflers is yo’ kind of folks, for sure. Blessed with the barrelhouse roll of Eric Arthur’s piano and the haunting howl of Henry Slim’s harmonica you can hear the paddles of a midnight Mississippi riverboat behind each of their arrangements of classic blues and boogie songs.
